รายละเอียด / Details:

The purpose of this research was to study the work stress of the psychologists in the Department of Health, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The study population comprised 32 psychologists 13 working in the Mental Health Clinic and Acquired Immune Deficiency syndrome Unit and 19 psychologists working in drug abuse prevention and treatment unit. The two groups were compared in age, working experience, and work characteristics. The data was collected by questionnaires developed by the researcher. The SPSS/PC+ program was applied to analyze data. The results were as follow: the overall work stress was found to be in the level of moderate degree which meant that the psychologists had adjusted to their work situations. There was no statistically significant relationship of between work stress and age among psychologists who were different in age, working experience, work characteristics, marital status, level of education, and education in psychology. The two major areas of stress were: role ambiguity and work load. Clearly, job specification should be provided in order to let the psychologists know the limits of work and prevent overlapping in order to reduce work load.
