The purpose of this study was to the effect of the early detection and utilizing clinical nursing practice guideline for NMS prevention. The population were psychiatric patients who had risk of NMS and admitted in Somdet Chaopraya Institute of psychiatry between 15th October-16th November 2007 (360 cases). The high risk group samples (35 cases) have the early detection and clinical nursing practice guideline for NMSS prevention. The study instrument were early detection and clinical nursing practice guideline for NMS prevention. This data were analyzed by frequency and percentage. The results were as follows: The high risk group of NMS was Male (65.71%) and middle aged adults (42.86%). Most of them had main Diagnosis to Schizophrenia (77.14%), dual diagnosis (25.71%) and the result of early detection for NMS were as follows: 1.The main risk factor was dehydration (62.86%) and exhaustion (60%) 2.The sub risk factor were : 1) Receiving high doses (loading) of neuroleptics drugs (51.42%), 2) especially by intramuscular injection (51.42%) .3)Restrained than 1 hour (37.14%) 3.The high risk group has the Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline can prevention NMS 97.14% and 1 case of them had NMS. (2.06%).
