รายละเอียด / Details:

Depression is a complex disoeddder with multiple symptom domains influencing its diagnosis, treatment and outcome. Recent neuroimaging and molecular studies have led to a better understanding of the neurobiological underpinnings of depression. Neuroimaging studies have delineated specific regions of the brain. Including the prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate, hippocampus and amygdala, to beinvolved in the regulation of mood states. Stressful life event increase vulnerability to depression. Molecular studies confirm that stress leads to lower levels of protective neurotropic factors, which in turn contributes to atrophy and damage to limbic structures, including hippocampus. Biological therapies treatments reverse these processes, at least in part through their effect on the neurotropic factors. Current perspectives on the neural circuitry and neurotropic model of depression will be reviewed in the presentation.
