Since there been no Mentak Health Law provision ti Thailand thus the Department of mental Health under the Ministry of Public Health Thailand has determined to urge the law in the Mental Health Plan of the 8th National Health Plan. This study was concerned with the issue of compulsory treatment. The survey study is aimed to identify the sscope procedure and type of the compulsory treatment for the mentally disordered persons. The 1}580 designed structured questionnaires were sent to the government officers in the 4th health region which were classified into three groups according to their professions. The Three groups were medical and health justice and detention and local authorities. The 732 completed answering questionnaires revealed that the first characteristics of mentally disordered persons were sexual deviation violent behaviors from drug addicition psychosis with wandering and poor self hygiene weapon collecting due to paranoid ideation and uncontrollable emotion character. Most of the respondents thought that the families of the mentally disordered person should request for compulsory treatment to the physicians. They have to bring the patients who left the hospital without permission back for continuing treatment. They should take care the patiens after being discharged from the process. The physicians have authorities in the assessment detention and discharge procedure. In the cases with detention period were longer than 6 months the families should appeal to the courts. The courts should judge the appeals within 15 official days. The government should provide free of charge services by allocating health card for the target groups. The type of treatment should be in-patient and out-patient services which could be accessed at the mental hospitals and the general hospitals as well. There were no statistical differences among the three respondent groups in terms of the procedure and the types of the compulsory treatment. The result of the study will be the information background for the provision of Mental Health Act in Thailand.
