As Thailand is seen as a developing southesat asian country with fast-growing number of the senior citizen meanwhile, they are alsoencouraged to attend the elderly club locally for the sake of health promption and prevention. The quality of life as well as the health status of the elderly in this setting was explored nationwide. One thousand, eight hundred and sixty-nine casesfrom 66 provinces who attended the elderly clubs were recruited . The structured questionnaires with detailed instruction were distributed to the elderly club nationwide. The independent factors determining the poor quality of life were as follow: not living with spouse, poor financial status, no regular exercise, sleeping or hearing difficulty, not taking milk regularly, suffering from joint pain or diabetes mellitus, history of fall within 6 months and poor mobility score and instrumental activity of daily living. All these factors should be parts of the geriatric assessment among the Thai elderly. Socioeconomic factors could be employed to screen for those who are at risk shile the other reversible factors should be highlighted and treated properly in order to prevent poor quality of life in the elderly clubs.
