The growing interest in the use of rhythmic activities in chronic and regressed wards of psychiatric hospital has brought about many questions in regard to proper technique, procedure and administration. The specific therapeutic effects of the rhythmic activity result mainly from the basic effect rhythm itself, which is the synchronization of mobements. This synchronization of mobements triggers many physical and emotional reactions which in turn bring about a desirable total response on the part of the patient. Once this compelling yet nonpunitive control of behavior is established the rhythmic activity becomes a part of reality which is not only. The author reported a case of chronic and regressed schizophrenic patient with music therapy.
