The author extensively reviewed the side-effects of neuroleptic drugs which involved different systems as follow:- 1. CNS. The symptoms occurred are Parkinsonism Syndrome dyskineticdystonic reactions; akathisia; ccnvulsions; and posible death, particularly in cases of previous E.C.T., head injuries lobotomy and chronic alcoholism. Prolonged use of high dosage of phenothiazines may rsult in development of a syndrome called Tardive Dyskinesia described. 2. ANS. Dizziness, lassitide. Dry mucous membrane, nasal congestion, nausea, vomitting, constipation, dysuria, blurred vision, hypotension, etc. may be encountered. 3. Skin and Eyes. Rashes aare due to allergic reaction, characterized in various forms of dermaterized in various forms of dermatopathology. Photosensitvity is common in 10% of cases. Phigmentary Syndrome has also been found. 4. Bolld Dyscrasias. Annemia eosinophilia accompanied by rashes and agranulocytosis during 6-10 week period of continued medication have been reported to be attributed to allergic reaction. 5. Liver. Also affected by allergic reaction is the intrahepatic jaundice. 6. CVS. Cardiac Triad described consists of E.K.G. change cardiomyopathy and sudden death. 7. Psychotoxic Effects. Common symptoms manifested are confusion agitation depression confabulation and hallucinations, especially in the aged. 8. Others. Gakactorrhea, edemalactation, and oral moniliasis have been described.
