A patient who had trouble sleeping was successfully treated by psychotherapy. Eight years after termination of treatment the patient was interviewed again. The follow-up revealed that this patient suffered from episodic illness which was characterized by insomia anenergia, poor appetite weight loss, loss of interest poor concentration and depressed mood. Each episode of the illness lasted from six months to one year. The author believed that the patient had endogenous depression and her recovery was due to spontaneous remission ratbar than the effect of treatment.
