"A Study of the Effects of Behavioral Modifiction for Chronic Patients" This research was to study behaviors observed after providing programmed environment to chronic psychiatric patients. The patients were treated with techniques of behavioral modification called operant conditioning and positive social reinforcement. The hypothesis was : after the treatment the patients of the experimental group and the controlled group had significantly different behaviors. The research samples were 16 male chronic psychiatric patients of Ward V of Prasrimahabhodi Hospital, admitted more than 3 years ago and randomly sampled. Instruments used were programmed environment and Tables of behavioral evluation. The data collection was carried out by the provided environmental program. The program consisted of 7 behaviors : tooth-brushing, dressing, physical exercising, game playing, eating and occupation. These behaviors were evaluated before during and after treatment, totally 21 times. Then the data were analyzed by comparing the behaviors between each time of evaluation of each behavior. The statistics used were one-way analysis of variance and a test of difference of means of variables. Each pair was tested individually using student Newman Keuls method. It was found that after the treatment the experimental group and the controlled group significantly differed in all 7 behaviors at 0.001 (p,.001)
