Problems of Amphetamine abuse have been increasingly intensified, both in numbers and severity and become national concern. To investigate factors affecting the cure and readdiction of Amphetamine (Yaba), the data from 50 Amphetamine addicted patients admitted to Thunyarak Hospital and from 20 nurses caring for these patients were collected. Instruments used in this study were 3 questionnaires and 1 physical assessment form. Amphetamine addicted patients newly admitted to the hospital were undergone physical assessment and their socio-demographic and environmental information were collected by using physical assessment form and questionnaire, repectively. Data on treatment procedures were collected from the patients as well as from nurses caring for them. The patients discharged from the hospital were followed up. They once again received physical assessment and were interviewed by using questionnaire. Results from this study showed that of 50 discharged patients 18 were re-addicted and 32 were cured. There were no significant differences between these 2 groups with respect to family-social environmental and treatment factors. However, the knowledge and practice about Amphetamine addiction of those who were cured were significantly higher than those who were re-addicted. (p‹.05).
