It is important for the nurse to recognize that all human behavior has meaning is purposful, and is learned. The patient is a human being who needs to be respected as a person, regardless of his behavior. Intellectual observation and understanding both verbal and nonverbal communications including good relationship, will create independence, more mature behavior and regain mental health in the patient who is mentally ill.
