Good mental health of an individual atarts right from the family. Good social development of the community is a reflection of good family tie. To have a strong family tie it needs "love" among members of the family especially mutua 1"love" of family and mother which will link the love of children automatically' Quite a number of Thai and oriental traditions and cultures bring forth to a good family tie. They are then worth while studied and preserved in certain respects. Some Buddhist moral precepts as recited by Buddhist priests in nearly all religious cermonies are as follows: "Respectfully to support parents To cherish children and wife, To fulfil all undertakings- This is a most worthy practice" Investigations by R. Spitz, O.Khachorn and others confirm the hypothes is that mental ill health results from early maternal deprivation and broken homes. Industrialization in the modern world tend to create a disruption of the family tie and thence poor mental health. Urbanization in Thailand with a remarkable migration of young adults adults away from their farms and families in the north and north-east rural areas is a social phenomenon worth studying. Decentralization, villages betterment programme, mobile cultural and educational units may be more or less the answers,
