A 17 year-old female teenager whose diagnosis was conversion disorder was brought to the author by her relative for consultation. She was treated by means of counseling for a period of 9 months. During this period she was also helped through crisis intervention on 16 occasions. The severity and frequency of her symptoms decreased gradually and the became better able to deal with her problems. She also became increasingly better adjusted to situations in her life so much so that the treatment was able to be terminated. Follow-up assessment was done regularly thereafter until she graduated from university and began to enjoy a stable job. The total duration of this follow-up was 7 years.
