Summary This is a Comparative study of through-surface electrode electrical stimulation and electro-acupuncture in the treatment of alcoholism. 104 case of alcoholism were treated with 3 different methods, 20 cases of which by electro-accuouncture as a first method, 60 cases by electrical stimulationthrough surface electrodes as a seceond and 25 cases by combination of the first two. Average result of all methods showed that more than 90% of the cases cases drinking within 8 sessions of treatment. Electro-acupuncture was the best method. The result of second was a little bit slower than first but it had the advantage of being pain-free and readily accessible to personnels to perform treatment. The last method was optional. However the result also depended on attitude performance and psychological approach to the patients. By and large, thes treatment are economical simple, effective safe and may be given to the patients in any hospital.
