The study of dental caries in drug addicts at Thayarak Hospital was performed by simple sampling during July to December 1995. Methods and criteria used in this study were those described in manual, Oral Health survey-basic Method 1987, together with the related data obtaining by interviewing technique from the 338 patients. The range of age is between 12-73 years with the average age of 27.8 years 84.2 percent came from Bangkok and central part of the country. The heroin addicts is 88.5 percent of the total cases. The meam DMFT in all age-group is higher than normal population. Such DMFT in these patients in the three age-group of 17-19, 20-34, 35-44 years old are 11.3, 12.2, 16.4 respectively. (Especially in age-group of 35-44 is 2.5 times.) Drug addicts in age-group of 35.44 years old who have more than 20 functional teeth is 72.7 percent. The ones who lost their teeth was related to their occasional tooth-brush behavior. More than 75.7 percent of the addicts had the behavior of sweet candy, soft drink and cracker consumptin frequently.
