The author has carried a study, regarding the neurological complications in 28 patients with chronic alcoholism (drinking over 10 years of duration). These patients were admitted in Prasat Neurological Institute, Department of psychiatry from October 1st, 1992 to September 30th, 1993. The most common neurological complications were alcoholic polyneuropathy, alcoholic cerebellar degeneration and alcoholic dementia respectively. Majority of cases demonstrated 2-3 combinations. The electroencephalogram (EEG) showed 10.71% abnormality. Computed tomographic scan of brain (CT scan of brain) was found to be positive as cerbral atrophy. 53.35%. All electromyographies (EMG) were normal. Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) was very useful and found to be 100% postivie.
