The side effect of antipsychotic drugs used in residential care between 1968 to 1989 Yuwaprasart Waithayopathum Hospital (child and adoleseent psychiatric hospital) were studied. There were 2,585 psychiatric children refered for residential care and 1,738 children reccived antipsychotic drugs. The severe side effects of antipsychotic drugs were found in central nervous system (14 cases) and autonomic nervous system (7 cases). The other effects were found in eyes (22 cases), skin (2 cases) and urogenital organ (3 cases). Symptoms and signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome and sleep apnea were not found.
