Family members of 34 patients with schizophrenia were selected by purposive sampling and were randomly assigned to an experimental group received individually structural education knowledge about schizophrenia training in problem-solving skill for manging patient behavior, information about hospital service. The tool used in this study was the questionaire developed by the researchers. Data were collected and analysed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (independent t-test). At 18 months follow-up, the results were as follow, schizophrenia in an experimental group had lower rehospitalization and recurrent rates than a control group (17.6 percent, 23.5 percent VS 35.3 percent, 64.7 percent, respectivel). No significant differences between 2 groups in family burden knowledge of schizophrenia and hospital service. Family psychoeducational support groups in schizophrenia with larger sample size is suggested.
