Our society is becoming more and more computer and internet dependent not only for information, but for fun and entertainment. This trend is a potential problem affecting all ages, starting with computer games for kids to chats for adults, Is this yet another type of addicition that has invaded the human psyche? Internationally, computer and internet addictions are newly psychologist's recognized problems. However, controversy exists whether these addicitions should be included in primary psychiatric disorders. Computer an dInternet can become a pathological addiction when users excessively use and can't stop or control using, feel distress when can not engaged in these activities that causes problems with their health, family obligations, relationship with others jobs, finances and other responsibilities. As yet, there is no official psychological or psychiatric diagnosis of an internet and computer addiction. A family intervention can be done with love and respect in a non confrontational and non-judgmental manner. However, in case of the failure of family intervention, some serious addicted users need to further consult with psychological experts or other professional supporters for a proper treatment. The purpose of this article is to provide mental health care providers and interested people especially families to be aware of negative sides of computer and internet usages; know clinical signs and the allure of computing; and how to solve problems and prevent computer and internet addictions.
