รายละเอียด / Details:

The purposes of this study were to assess health behaviors and cognitive-perceptual factors and their relationship with demographic characteristics among population in congested communities of bangruk district, bangkok metropolis. The study framework based on PRECEDE-PROCEED Model. The sample of 5 communities were selected by simple random sampling from 16 congested communities. The sample of 400 people was selected by systematic sampling from the five communities. The data collection was done through interview by structured questionnaires and analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, Spearman rank correlation coefficient, Mann-Whitney U test and kruskal-Wallis H test. It was found that the mean score of the studied population"s health behaviors was in moderate level. When specific health behaviors were analyzed the study indicated that avoidance of alcoholic beverages was ranked highest by the mean score. Behaviors with good scores included appropriate food consumption non-smoking habit and stress management. Behaviors with poor mean scores were exercises/sports and routine annual physical cheek up. The cognitive-perceptual factors such as knowledge attitudes, values, belief/perception had moderate mean scores. The demographic characteristics including occupation, family income and religion were significantly associated with health behaviors (p‹.05). Health values had moderately positive correlation with health behaviors (rs=0.612). Where as knowledge and attitudes had significant negative correlation with health behaviors despite the lower level (rs=-0.159 and -0.104 respectively). However, belief/perception were not significantly associated with health behaviors (p=.150). In conclusion, it is recommended to promote population in congested communities to change their health behaviors on exercises/sport and routine annual physical check up, in addition to may health behaviors development projects by which the difference of occupation, family income and religion among the population should be taken into consideration in order to enhance the proper health values and behaviors.
