This action research was developed to promote participation for caring anxiety disorder persons (ADP) Five communities in Utumpornrisai . Sisaket were selected. The participants were sixteen ADPs, thirteen family members, five public health officers and thirty-seven key persons and members in the community. The data was collected by focus groups, by in-depth interview, by observation and using questionnaire. The data were analyzed by content interpretation and descriptive analysis. The results indicated problems and needs that ADP can not solve conflict in their family, depended on drug treatment when having anxiety and they had few supportive system. Key persons in the community did not know how to manage ADP and public health officers were not confidence to approach ADP that had severe physical and mental illness. The community participation model was developed. There were seven ways to promote community participation : 1. Understanding and sharing problems 2. Willing trust and understanding 3. Participation learning 4. Sharing though creating care for ADP 5. Committing to collaboration in practice 6. Building key persons to manage care activities and 7. Providing supervision and resource. Five projects were developed to care ADP in the community : 1. Home visit attending and talking 2. Group exercises 3. Meditation practices 4. Reading activities and 5. Providing massages. The outcome of promoting community participation in care for ADP revealed that community key persons and members gained satisfaction and self value ; public health officers gained more confidence in caring for ADP;ADP reduced drug treatment and decreased negative symptoms. Importantly, this research suggests new ways for prevention and promotion mental health in the community.
