To study 6-month clinical courses of methamphetamine (MA) psychosis in chronic MA abusers, the association between the severity of psychosis and the amount of MA in urine and hair, and predicting factors of psychosis relapse in previous methamphetamine induced psychotic patients. Results: Twenty eight patients participated in this study. Of those, 25 participants completed 4-week inpatients treatment. AS outpatients, 15 and 9 participants returned for follow-up visit at month 3 and 6, respectively. Mean PANSS total scores decreased at month 1,3 and 6. The means of PANNS positive, negative and general psychopathological symptom scores considerably decreased at month 1 and then slightly increased at month 3 and 6. Of 25 participants who completed 4 -week inpatient treatment, 23 of them had psychotic remission. Two participants who had not improved after 4-week inpatients treatment remained psychotic at month 3. In addition, 3 participants had psychotic relapse at this point of time. At month 6, one participant who had been persistence psychosis till month 3 remitted at month 6 and one participant had psychotic relapse. The amount of MA in urine was significantly correlated with MA in hair (p‹0.05). However, the severity of psychotic symptoms was not significant correlated with the ma in urine and hair. Three and one of those with psychotic relapse at month 3 and 6, respectively, reported their reuse MA. However, the denied for any psychosocial stressor an dues of other substances. Three of these four patients had psychotic relapse while they were treated with antipsychotic medication.
