Objective : Since studies in this a limited, this descriptive study was designed in order to examine the preparation for death and dying among people living with HIV. Method : Convenient sampling was adopted to detect 200 HIV infected persons who were the members of people living with HIV groups in the Mae Or District, Mae Wang District, and sanpatong District, Chiang Mai province. Verbal informed consent was obtained before data collection. The research instrument was a questionnaire developed by the researcher consisting of two main parts : [personal Data and the Preparation for Death and Dying for the People Living HIV. The content validity index of the questionnaire was .97 and the reliability was .80 Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and categorization was also used for open-ended questions. Results: The main results of the study revealed the following: The main finding indicated that in general, over half of the sample (54.50%) had scores higher than the median score of the total score. Regarding the preparation for death and dying in each dimension, it was found that the average score for the preparation of psychological, physical, and spiritual aspects were higher than the median score while that of the social dimension was lower than the median score. Regarding psychological preparation for death and dying, most of the sample accepted death as a natural process and maintained value and meaning of life. Regarding physical preparation, the sample discussed terminal care with friends and family members and considered persons who could make decision and care for them. Eighth regard to spiritual preparation, the majority of the sample recognized death as a common experience, performed religious activities regularly, and modified goals for the remaining life. Concerning social preparation, most of the sample planned for the future of family members, selected the place to stay in the terminal period of life, and saved money for significant persons.
