Persons with substance abuse mostly found having personality disorder. Therefore, screening procedure should be emphasized to enhance the comprehensive care. The purpose of the descriptive study was to examine the personality disorder of persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder. The subjects were selected by purposive sampling and consisted of 159 persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder who admitted at suanprung Psychiatric Hospital, Chiangmai province during May to June, 2002. The research instrument was Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire-4 (PDQ-4) developed by Hyler (1994) and using the technique of back translation, and reliability was confirmed by test-retest method. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. The result revealed that 72.33 percent of the subject reported as having personality disorder. Considering to each type of personality disorder, it is found that 13.55 percent of the subjected having the obsessive compulsive personality disorder, followed by paranoid personality disorder (12.48%), avoidant personality disorder (11.30%), schizoid personality disorder (8.22%) borderline personality disorder (6.90%) ,and histrionic personality disorder (6.46%) respectively. The findings of this study indicate the comorbidity of the personality disorder in persons with amphetamine induced psychotic disorder. Therefore, health care providers should be considered this comorbidity in order to provide care comprehensively.
