This study is to compare the results of the matrix programs for the patients of 7-days and 14-days. Groups of samples are male patients whose records are related to amphetamine addiction of the correction office of Nakornratchasima. Sikiew and Chaiyapum: and 484 patients who are voluntary to accept the treatment. Period of the study is from 2 August 2001 until 31 May 2003. Independent variables of the study are methods of treatment under the applied matrix programs of 7 days and 14 days and dependent variable is behaviors of drug used of the patients after treatment. Data collection is based on Pre-service Appraisal from. General patients records. Registration Book of the matrix. Profiles of in-patients. Recording form of motivation for patients. Files of the matrix. Follow-up reports of the psychiatric department and the correction department and the questionnaire form on the need to select the service in the first time : by the officials of the applied matrix project and public Health network and officials of the correction department for 3 durations of the follow-up period namely 1) 15 days after treatment 2) 60 days after 1) and 3) 120 days after 2) Data analysis is based on computer program. Statistics are in percentage. Frequency and average basis. Result of the study discloses that under the matrix program of 7 days. There are 277 patients or 57.23% of the sample groups, Most are 20-24 years old or 41.88% being employees or 45.13% and graduated only from the secondary school (Mattayomsuksa Ton) or 38.6% meanwhile. Under the matrix program of 14 days. There are 207 patients or 42.72% of the sample groups. Most are 20-24 years old or 38.65% being employees or 49.76% and graduated only from the secondary school (Mattayomsuksa Ton) or 39.61% respectively. Result of the treatment discloses that out of the total patients of 7-day program. 3.25% has repeated the drug taking within 6 months while 2.16% has to be re-admitted. Meanwhile. 1.45% of the patients whom are admitted under the 14 days program has repeated the drug taking and 0.96% has to be re-admitted. The average cost of the treatment under the 7-days program is Bath 2.869-while it is Bath 4.262.89 under the 14 days program.
