The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to study the relapse prevention behavior and drug abstinence rate among drug abusers who seeking therapy at Roi-ed Hospital, some participated in out patient matrix program and some participated in camping matrix program. Samples of this research were 80 Amphetamine abusers in Roi-ed municipal area who seeking therapy at narcotic clinic of Roi-ed hospital between January 2002 and June 2002. They were randomly devided into 2 experimcnt groups, the first 40 cases received out patient matrix program and the last 40 cases received camping matrix program. There were 20 cases droped out from the first group before treatment end. Research tools included of questionaires, relapse prevention behavior evaluation form and interviewing form. Data were analized by t-test and pair samples t-test. The mean relapse prevention behavior scores of the first group who received out patients matrix program after treatment was higher than before treatment statistical significantly (p‹0.001). The drug abstinence rate examine by 4 times follow up was 100% The mean realpse preventionbehavior scores of the first group who received out patient matrix program after treatment was higher than before treatment statistical significantly (p<0.001) and the drug abstinence rate examine by 4 times follow up was 90, 82.5, 82.5 and 82.5% respectively. The result of this research indicated that both out patient and comping matrix program were effective in increasing the relapse prevention behavior and drug abstinence rate. Both programs have some obstacles in the area of patient need, continuity of treatment, and paicipalory of family which should be developed in the future.
