The readmission problem of person with schizophrenia is leading to burden and economic waste for ffamily, social, and country. It is an urgent need to fine out an approach to prevents readmission of person with schizophrenia. The purposes of this descriptive study were to study the relationships between burden and caring capabilities among caregivers and readmission of person with schizophrenia, and the predictability of burden and caring capabilities among caregivers to the readmission of person with schizophrenia. Purposive sampling was used to select 60 caregivers of persons with schizophrenia attending at Out-Patients Department, Prasrimahanhodi Psychiatric Hospital, Ubolrajathani Province, data collected during May to September, 2001. The instruments was Burden Assessment Form which Kenchaowong, (1996) modified from the Objective and Subjective Burden Assessment Form of Montgomery, Gonyea and Hooyman, (1985), the Content Validity Index was.76, the reliability of the Objective and Subjective Burden assessment Form. Obtained by Cronbach's coefficient alpha was .81 and .88. The caring Capabilities of Caregivers of person with Schizophrenia Form, constructed by the researcher. The content validity Index was .86, the reliability obtained by Cronbach's coefficient alpha was .88. The results revealed that: 1. There were significant positive relationships between objective burden and readmission of person with schizophrenia (r=.36, p‹.01), but no relationships between subjects burden and readmission of person with schizophrenia 2. There were significant negative relationships between caring capabilities among caregivers and readmission of person with schizophrenai (r=-.37, p<.01) 3. Objective burden and caring capabilities among caregivers accounted for 23.1% of readmission of person with schizophrenia (p<.01) The results of this study, it was recommended to prevent readmission of person with schizophrenia by reduce the burden enhance the capability of caregiver of person with schizophrenia.
