Nowadays Prasrimahabhodi Hospital's patients are going to be chronic more and more and on the average of 452 patients per day in January of the year 2003, there were 202 chronic patients (44.69%) As a result, it tends to be a harder work for nursing in the near future. Objectives: 1. To survey some information about potentials and mental situations of chronic psychiatric patients admitted in Prasrimahabhodi Hospital. 2. To analyze problematic situations and conditions of the chronic patients. 3. To find a guideline for solving problems based on the problematic situations (theoretical) that would be useful for executive and others related. Research Scope: Surveying individual potentials and mental conditions of both male and female chronic patients with 3 years or more period of admission in prasrimahabhodi Hospital. Research Methodology: It is a survey research population is 452 in number. Based on the purposive sampling technique, the sample size is consequently 202. According to the objectives of this research, the dependent variable is the patient's potential score the research instrument is an evaluation form created by the researches themselves. The invention was based on the integration of individual potential and mental situation of the patients. The form was systematically justified for content validity and accuracy. It was tried out for developing as a standardized instrument in the data collection process By arranging and managing a program and checking the potential scored due to the evaluation from, the outputs could be analyzed and carried out by arithmetic mean percentage, and t-test available in the SPSS PC. Conclusion In general it was found that (1) the physical potential are between "good" and "very good " (2) Basic skills for careers and recreation are moderate. (3) Self-behaving as a member of society is between "good" an "very good" (4) Therapeutic relationships are between "moderate" and "very good" (5) Mental situations/mental syndrome residues are still too much and those would be a constraint of the potential development (6) Most of the patients are categorized in the first-time therapy of with party were affected by physical pathology/physical remedy.
