The purposes of this qualitative research were descfibed about realization in role and self-image and needs for care-givings during sickness of female psychiatric patients admitted in psychiatric hospital, Ubonratchathani province, Thailand. Moreover, the findings were expected to be used as a guideline for caregivers. The content hospital. The sampling was carried out by purposive sampling technique. All of them could communicate and correctly all authentic situations. Fifteen care-gives were interviewed about attitudes of care-giving for female psychiatric patients during October-December, 2001. It was found that the patients did have self-confidence and self-esteem decreased since sickness. For the sickness overwhelmed roles and images of their womanhood. As a result, their roles and images were changed, including scard about unaccepted by family and community consequently. The female psychiatric patients needed care-givers those comprehended their actual womanhood feelings in spite of their psychiatric sickness.It was in accordance with the attitude of the care-givers. They interpreted they still did not give adequate empathetic care on the womanhood of the patients.
