รายละเอียด / Details:

The purpose of this cross-sectional descriptive study is to examine the causal relationships among agr, education, time since completing radiotherapy, family and health authority support, symptom distress, uncertainty, problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping and psychosocial adjustment in post radiotherapy cervical cancer women. A conceptual framework was based on Mishel's uncertainty in illness theory and empirical data. Purposive sampling was employed to recruit 300 post radiotherapy cervical cancer women who came for follow-up care at the radiotherapy outpatient clinics of three public hospitals in Bangkok Metropolitan area. The instruments used in this study included Personal Information Questionnaire, The Symptom Distress Scale, he Social Support Questionnaire, The Mishel's Uncertainty in Illness Scale: Community Version, The Jalowiec Coping Scale, and the psychosocial adjustment to lllness Scale. The hypothesized model was tested and modified by using the LISREL 8.30 Program. The results demonstrated that sixty-two percent (R=.62) of the total variance in psychosocial adjustment were explained by family and health authority support, symptom distress, uncertainty, and emotion-focused coping. Family and health authority support had direct effect (B=-0.09, p‹.001). And indirect effect on psycosocial adjustment through uncertainty (B=-0.15,p<.01). and problem-focused coping (B=0.11, p<.05). Symptom distress had direct effect(B=-0.19, p<.01) and indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through uncertainty (B=1.54,p<.001). Uncertainty had direct effect (B=-0.05, p<.05) and indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through emotion-focused coping (B=0.14,p<.01). Emotion-focused coping had a direct effect on psychosocial adjustment (B=-0.09,p<.001). Whereas, problem-focused coping had an indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through symptom distress (B=-0.19, p<.001). Time since completint radiotherapy had indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through symptom distress (Y=-0.07, p<.05), family and health authority support (y=-0.23, p<.01), and uncertainty (y=-0.23,p<.01). Education had indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through problem-focused coping (y=1.16, p<.001), and emotion-focused coping (y=-0.04, p<.01); and age had an indirect effect on psychosocial adjustment through problem-focused coping (y=-0.26, p<.001). These findings have implications for health care systems and nursing practices in planning interventions to promote psychosocial adjustment in post radiotherapy cervical cancer women. A longitudinal study and experimental study are recommended for further study.
