A follow-up study of ninety-six male opiate abusers who were imprisoned for illegal drugs abuse during 1974-1975. Sixty cases were taught to practice Buddhist meditation. A follow-up own year later by correspondence failed to trace the majority of cases. Only ten percents of the cases responded to the questionnaires, eight percents were abstinent, two percents were still addicted and the remainder were unknown. No difference between those who practiced and did not practice meditation. However certain cases who practiced meditation have gained insight and their attitude toward life and drug abuse was changed.
