There are 2 categories of psychiatric manifestations in Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) 1) The group of organic mental disorders showing as 2 clinical pictures, delirium and dementia which dementia is found more common. Most of organic mental disorders are AIDS complications involving CNS. 2) The Second group of mental disorders is mental reactions to the illness of AIDS. Most of the clinical features are the emotional disturbance, depression and denial like the patients troubled by other chronic, incurable or life threatening diseases. The authors reported the case admitted to psychiatric ward because of organic mental disorder, dementia, delirium and psychosis leading to the diagnosis of AIDS.
