Suicide and self destructive behavior is a health problem in many developed countries, It is one of the major causes of death in their population. For Thailand the trend of mortality rate from this behavior is rising determined by the factor of rapid changes in socio-economic development that influence Thai mental health status. Mental disorder is reported to be the main problem leading to suicide. When any types of suicidal behavior occur the clinician is of ten called upon to make life-or-death decisions about potentially suicidal patients in busy emergency rooms with insufficient data in an atmosphere of anxiety and confusion on the part of the patients, the family and the staff, One aspect of patients case psychiatric emergency management that any general practitioner should able to handle effectively.
