Our study dealt with 78 Buddhist monks who suffered depressive illness, schizophrenia, mania mutism and reactive psychosis for 3 years. They were treated by electroconvulsive therapy ECT and followed with antipsychotic drugs. The result showed a dramatic recovery. The patients rapidly recovered from their illnesses and were able to perform their normal daily routine function.
