The authors studied the application of Dynorphin for heroin dependence detoxification. This study was carried doubt in 22 volunteers who were diagnosed as heroin dependences. All volunteers were randomly assigned into three groups 7,7 and 8 cases and started with methadone for 10 days, beginning with the dose of 40 mg/day and gradually decreased to 20 mg/day on the Day 10th and abruptly stopped methadone. Subsequently all volunteers were assigned to receive intravenous injections of Dynorphin either at the dose of 180 or 60 or 0 microgram/kg three times a days respectively. This study measured the physiological responses (respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature), craving and withdrawal syndrome. The results showed that there were statistical significant differences in pulse, mean arterial pressure and respiratory rate when compared between each period of the study in each group and also in the mean arterial pressure when compared between group. However, there was no clinical significant difference. The results of the study for craving and withdrawal syndrome were reported separately.
