Mini thin-layer chromatographic technique (Mini TLC) is introduced for detection of morphine and methadone in urine. The urine sample is made alkali, and extracted with organic solvent. The residual of the evaporated organic layer is analyzed for narcotics by mini TLC technique. The results showed that this technique is as specific and sensitive as the technique of standard TLC while it is simplier and less time consuming. The mini TLC is thus considerably more economic in testing small samples.
