The increasing number of young patients have been considerably high since 1972. Some of them were students which 20 separated beds were provided. Detoxification is the essential of the treatment program. Because of lacking law re-enforcement all patients were voluntarily treated. The method of study seemed to be more of a pilot project than systematic one. The following up cases were rather difficult. Anyhow, the psychiatric staff were likely to use drug free group on student addicts than any kind of treatment. Finally, the reporter emphasized that there were only small number of beds for the addicts comparing with the total number of 400-450 of the country. The rapidly increasing number of addicts was due to the fact that they could buy it cheaply and easily at any places. Moreover, the opium poppy were cultivated freely in boarded area of the Golden Tri-Angle. The Thai Government must take care those problems seriously.
