Depression after stroke (poststroke depression, PSD) is a common and serious complication, both early and late after stroke. It affects about 26 to 60% of the patients in the first 2 years after stroke. However, in clinical practice only a minority of the patients are accurate diagnosed and adequate treated. Four cases of PSD who had main symptoms of insomnia, irritable mood, poor appetite and despair feeling were reported. These patients suffered from PSD for 1 month, 5 months, 3 years, and 2 years respectively. After treatment, all of them had good response to noradrenergic effect antidepressants, the first 2 cases received rehabilition again and all of them had a better social functioning
