รายละเอียด / Details:

The objective of this study was to describe the experiences and opinions of asymptomatic HIV infected persons including their reaction after disclosure of the sero-postitive HIV-antibody, their health behaviors after infection, attitudes towards their sexual relation, the reproductive decisions, and their opinion on future plan. The qualitative study reported the views of 15 asymptomatic HIV infected people attending a counselling clinic in on etertiary hospital of southern Thailand. Generally they used "perception of good health" as a reason to refuse the fact of infection at first time. This response was reflected a grief and loss process. Most of them did not agree to disclose their serostatus. Social support and kum-lung-jai (will power) form family and others was the most common highlighted as an enabling factor of their coping. All of them never had experienced special AIDS care service. However, HIV infection has wakened their concern to maintain better health. Some barriers of early seeking medical care were described. The majority still had sex with couple or partner, they attempted to use condom. Reproductive decision was one difficult issue that they had to confront. All experiences will be considered for interventions to enable asymptomatic Hiv infected person to live longer with a better quality of life.
