The objective of this action action research was to study the process and outcome of the development of a holistic health care program for HIV infected people in Sarapee district, Chiang Mai province. The program was implemented with HIV infected people that consisted of 23 leaders and 63 members. The research was arranged into 4 phases; (1) Creation of the holistic health care program, which through in-depth interviews with key-person and a literature review, from this, the draft of the holistic health care program was developed. The program was then tested and modified for appropriate use. (2) The leader group was exposed to the program. (3) The next phase was the distribution of the program from a leader to their members. (4) Finally, evaluation of the program. The duration of the study lasted 13 months. The results of the study showed that the program consisted of leader development activities, holistic health care concept and distribution model from the leaders to the members. After going through the program with leaders, they significantly gained AIDS and holistic health care knowledge, self-efficacy, outcome expectation, self-esteem as a holistic health care distributor and holistic health care practice. Members also achieved higher perceptions about holistic health care, great satisfaction upon receiving the ideas and holistic health care practice. The study suggests that a Holistic Health Care Program can be applied for use with HIV infected people in other areas, especially in areas with HIV infected individuals who do not wish it to be known.
