ชื่อเรื่อง/Title: MASTURBATION IN INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN.

แหล่งที่มา/Source: Journal of The Psychiatric Association of Thailand, Vol. 24 No.4 October 1979, P 420-429

รายละเอียด / Details:

Ten children with masturbation or genital play were seen at child psychiatric unit during a two and a half years period (Jan. 1997-June 1979.) They were five boys and five girls, with an age range from one and a half years to five years. Two out of the presented symptoms before six months of age. The act was performed in various ways, by creation friction on penis between the adducted thighs, by direct manipulation or by applying pressure against the projecting edge of some object such as a chair or table or by some other means. Eight out of ten were of average intelligence or higher. The symptoms indicate environmental disturbances or a failure in the parental attitudes that should bring the child through these phases of development and adaptation. The study reminds the physicians that masturbation or genital play in infants and young children is probably more common than is generally supposed.
