The study was carried out at Somdet Chaopraya Hospital in January,1978, for statistical analysis to find out the incidence of outpatient mental disorders. Relationship among sex,age,education and occupation in various mental disorders. The psychoses and neuroses were compared in the area of marital status, educational level and occupation. The incidence of outpatient psychiatric disorders of other developing countries were compared with the results of this study. In addition, the number of patients who did not take medication according to prescription at time of the study were collected. Results The total number of patients for analysis were 2,689 cases (male 50.20%,female 49.76%). The most common mental disorder found was psychoses (69.2%). Schizophrenia is the majority of psychoses (72.5%). Major-affective disorders found in this study was only 7.2% . Neurological diseases were found in small number because the authors did not collect data from the Department of Neurology of the hospital.
