This paper reviews the formation of the first Child and Adolescence Guidance Clinic (CAGC) on an outpatient basis in Malaysia in a community setting. It describes the community in which the clinic works, the sort of referrals in terms of patients’ age, sex, social class and racial distribution, the types of clinical problems encountered and the therapeutic approach. Finally the problems faced and the future plans are discussed.
