In Dental Department, thanyarak Hospital, we provide advice and motivation for cigarette smoker to quit smoking. In 1999-2001, 720 dental service clients are cigarette smokers 14.5% of all dental service clients. After oral cavity examination, they got information about smoking hazardous to health and to dental hygiene and got motivation to quit smoking. Those who give particaption will get How-To-Quit-Smoking documents, dental service and advice. Dental service and advice time is about 30-45 minutes per visit. However, all clients will get smoking hazardous information from videotape and other document. 42 participats are 16-60 years old 3-35 years of smokingand mostly got some motivation from their family to this setting. When follow up at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 month, smoking-quit-rates are 28.5,38.0, 33.3 and 33.3 percent.
