This is a study of personal and psychiatric history of 231 suicidal victims and factors that influence the suicidal risk. The Research structure is the un-matched case control study which is based on the information obtained from the questionnaires which were sent to the victims’s family between January 1982-December 1983. The controlled group was 926 individuals who were the out patients’s relatives who attended the Srinagarin Hospital between 1-31 March 1984. 1. the ratio of male to female suicides was 1.8:1 2. Relevant to odds ratio, the study indicates:- 2.1 Suicidal risk is significantly higher among the people of 15-34 years of age than those of 45-54 years of age. 2.2 Suicidal risk is significantly higher among the singled, divorced and separated than the married who still live with his or her spouse. 2.3 Compare to the control, the people with each of the following characteristics;-with psychiatric difficulties, with severe or debilitated or chronic illnesses, taking psychoactive drugs, and with history of family suicde have significantly increased suicidal risk. 3. The study indicated that 14.7% of suicides were murdersuicides. All cases of infanticidesuicides were females. 40.8% of male murdersuicides had killed their spouses before committing suicides. 4. Suicides were mainly committed in the victims’ homes. to end their own lives than the females. Hopefully, the data presented will be useful Preventive Psychiatry and encourage others to do more relevant specific studies.
