This survey study is to assess the situation of amphetamine use of high school students in Saraburi Province, and factors influencing the use of amphetamine of the students. During the period of September to November 1995, every high school in Sarabyri Province was surveyed and a systemic sample of the students were interviewed by using questionnaire and intial urine test with later confirmatory test by Medical Sciences Department The result of the survey showed that 10.17 percent of the students had an experience with amphetamine in 1 year around and 36.04 percent of this group used the drug in the school, 67.8 percent of them reported that they could buy the drug locally. The main reason (76.07%) for taking the drug is that they were persuaded by friends. Factors found to be significantly associated with amphetamine use were experience of smoking, night entertainments sexual relationship and family situation.
