The Parental School Project,initiated by the mental health team at the Child Mental Health Center,Bangkok is a program that provides opportunities for parents and couples to obtain knowledge and skills and to exchange ideas and attitudes regarding preparation for marital living,parenthood and child – rearing practices for general parents and parents of special problem children with mental health professionals. The program is composed of to courses; 6 courses for general parents with major objectives to increase the parents knowledge and readiness in childrearing practices in order tofacilitate all aspects of development appropriated to their age and social conditions.The remaining 4 courses are for parents of special-problem children in order to utilize familys potentials to take care of the children effectively and consistently.The parental school project is considered a program for promoting the family to empower its functioning and to strengthen the community and society to a larger extent.
