The main purpose of this research is to compare CPI personality characteristics of normal high school students with students who have probelems. It was hypothesized that "normal high school students and those with problems have different California Psychological Inventory CPI personality characteristrics" The sample of this study consisted of 600 male and 600 female high school students, among these samples, 80 male students and 49 female students were identified as having problems by thir classroom teachers. The CPI eas used to ssess the personality charcteristics of the sample of this study. The result of this study revealed that the research hypothesis was confirmed for some of the 18 CPI scales. Among male student sample the normal students were significantly different from those with problems on CPI personality characteristics at .01 for 4 scales namely sense of well-being (Wb), socialization (So) intellectual efficiency (Ie) and communality (Cm); and at .05 for achievement via conformance (Ac). However among female student sample, it was found that the normal students were significantly different from those with problems on CPI personality characteristics at .01 for 5 scale namely responsibility (Re), socialization (So), achievement via independent (Ai), and intellectual efficiency (Ie); and at .05 for 5 scales including sociability (Sy), sense of well-being (Wb), tolerance (To), good impression (Gi) and femininity (Fe).
