Objective: 1. To re-visit the development of the crisis centre and the services it provides; 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of a –24hour suicide crisis intervention centre as a newly developed service for the suicides and/ or para-suicides. Methods: The cente was evaluated from the perspective of the users and the services provided, both qualitatively and quantitatively. 1. case intakes in the year 2003 are analyzed and a profile of the clients will be presented in terms if their characteristics and clusters found. 2. The effect of different interventions were studied quantitatively; 3. Content analysis-clients self-rated evaluation were categorized and analyzed ; Results & Conclusions: It is evident that this mode of crisis intervention is helpful in terms of 1. reaching people who are at risk and offering them immediate interventions for a period of 6-8 weeks; 2. providing people at risk with problem solving skills/coping skills to face and handle future problems; 3. satisfaction level perceived by clients after receiving the service (s)-over 50% respondents rated the service of the crisis centre as excellent.
