The purposes of this cross-sectional mail survey research were to examine the rate of mental health service use and the effects of the attitude in mental health, stigma, mental health service, mental health management, and perception from media to the decision of mental j\health service use in public's perspective. One thousand and five humdred Thai people from 5 regions were selected by two stage cluster sampling technique. The effects of major factors to the decision of mental health service use were analyzed by logistic regression and t-test. To identify the factors affected to the attitude in mental health and sigma, multiple regression analyse was used . The respond rate was 13.2%. The rate of mental health service use was 40.9%. Only one significant factor, the attitude in mental health and stigma explained the decision of mental helath service use (p‹0.01). Five important factors, mental health management and perception from media, the attitude in mental service centers, age of respondent, monthly salary, and relatives as influential person on health service use, had the significant effects to the decision of mental health service use. the results from this study could provide the basic strategic information to policy makers in order to support and promote good attitude in mental among Thai people and to improve mental health service.
